Little wonder the hobbyist often feels discriminated against. Not too long ago a full time plumber/part time trainer was given a DQ because according to the inquiry "he unlike most greyhound participants had the money to pay a fine" so DQ was seen as a more appropriate penalty. Are Messrs Bell and Gatt struggling and the fine is seen as a pretty strong deterrent to not infringe again ? Surely to someone who depends on training to "eat" a DQ would go a long way towards ensuring they pull their heads in from here on in. Also with regards to Mr Bell being Vice President of Newcastle Greyhounds does a positive swab have any bearing on his hold on that position ?
